SaMP Kids ~ Compassionate Kids Club ~ BIAB wk 2

Today at SaMP Kids – Compassionate Kids Club we continued making a plan for our September project to support Blessings in a Backpack, Frederick, MD with our EVERYTHING SALE!

Echo read “How to Build Community” and led a discussion with the kids on various forms of “community” and how we can support them. The kids also did a craft of the communities at the home, local, state, national and global levels and then we related the different communities to the projects that SaMP Kids have done throughout the past year!

The kids worked out details for the EVERYTHING SALE and made a call to local business owner, Serina Roy, of Dublin Roasters Coffee, on Market St, to request space to hold the sale. Serina happily obliged, so mark your calendars now! We will be holding the sale at Dublin Roasters Coffee on September 25th from 4:30pm-6PM! We encourage everyone to bring all items they have collected on 9/25 to Dublins. Please consider bringing a table or a blanket to lay out your merchandise!

The kids chose sell “EVERYTHING” so please feel free to bring clothes, toys, dishes, holiday items, baked goods (for bake sale guidelines, please visit the Health Department website), games, etc! All of the money raised at the sale will be donated to Blessings in a Backpack so they can purchase the supplies that are most needed to feed kids in Frederick County Schools! Please start sharing the details, and asking friends to participate either by donating items or coming out to shop!

We will meet again next Monday September 18th at 4:30pm at the The Common Market Co-op. We will be making fliers and posters to be posted around town to help advertise the sale!

Big thank you again to the Common Market for allowing us to use their space each week and to Dublin Roasters for accommodating the kids request to hold an everything sale!

SaMP Kids – Compassionate Kids Club is free LEARN program thanks to the support of the Sophie & Madigan’s Playground sponsors and donors. This weekly group is focused on compassion and community service. Kids of all ages come together to choose a service based project that will help teach them the importance of compassion for others and how their service big and small can make a difference in our community. If your organization is interested in presenting at a SaMP Kids meeting please contact Chrissi Lillard 325 8290 (301) to get on the schedule for the year.
