Last week at SaMP Kids – Compassionate Kids Club, we welcomed Hermine Bernstein to discuss Blessings in a Backpack, Frederick, MD! She read Maddi’s Fridge to the kids and led a discussion on how we can help families in need. We learned that BIAB provides TWO THOUSAND kids in Frederick County with meals on weekends, and holidays from school!
We also welcomed new and old friends back from the break after enjoying our summers! The first session of the month, the kids always choose various projects and we put them on the board for them to vote for the project they will work on for the month/session! There were many great ideas, but after learning that BIAB only fulfills 10% of their backpacks by food donations, the kids decided to hold an “EVERYTHING SALE” to raise money for BIAB to buy the food or supplies necessary to feed the kids in our school system!
This Monday is Labor Day and we will NOT meet! Our next meeting will be Monday September 11th at the The Common Market Co-op Community Room. We will begin to plan out our Everything Sale!
